SECURITY SPECIALIST

  • You will coordinate and administer inspections within the Detachment to ensure compliance with rules governing storage of Navy Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI) and classified information.
  • You will provide reporting of investigations, audits, surveys and similar activities to the Security Specialist Supervisor.
  • You will serve as a technical advisor on physical security rules, regulations, and procedures as well as tenant commands, ships force and contractor personnel.
  • You will interpret and apply higher authority guidelines on all phases of physical security disciplines for local implementation.
  • You will support nuclear security measures to promote effective safeguards and security of nuclear materials and equipment to include preparing for emergencies.
  • You will conduct physical security surveys and inspections. Independently certifies Secure Rooms, Controlled Nuclear Industrial Areas (CNIA), Nuclear Work Areas (NWA), and provides objective written correspondence.
  • You will process paperwork required to record upgrading and downgrading of security structures and notifying the Navy Security Forces Supervision of changes to Zone Check Sheet used for afterhours checks.
  • You will inspect protective barriers, lighting, intrusion detection systems, and other access control systems to ensure they meet established requirements.
  • You will prepare survey reports outlining deficiencies and takes corrective action where possible or initiates and tracks steps needed to correct problem.

Requirements

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Providing security protocols, emergency response, and incident reporting. 2. Experience with surveillance systems, access control, and physical security measures. 3. Exposure to risk assessment and threat identification. Understanding of security operations and policies. 4. Security technology: CCTV, alarms, access control systems.
