Plasterers, Cement Masons & Spray Fire Proofers

We’re proud to offer world-class training through our Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program, providing Apprentices the skills and experience to succeed as Local 534 Plasterers and Cement Masons.
Our Apprentices learn directly from seasoned craftsmen in our industry and develop their own skills and techniques while working at the Union hall and on job sites. After completing 6,000 hours of training, Apprentices graduate to Journeymen, with leading wages and benefits, a lifelong career, and Brothers and Sisters throughout the industry.
Cement Masons place and finish concrete floors, sidewalks, parking garage decks, warehouse floors basically anything flat that we walk on or drive on.We perform this work by using hand tools and various machines.Our work is both indoors and outdoors.It can be hot and cold depending on the season.In our craft we have a limited time to finish concrete as it eventually gets hard.We also grind and patch walls, epoxy floors, concrete polishing etc.
Plasterers apply plaster to walls, ceilings to produce various type of finishes.We also make and install moldings.Ornamental plaster, Venetian plaster, Acoustical Sound Proofing and EIFS.Our work is also performed indoors and outdoors and weather does play a factor.
Spray fire proofers, spray a fireproofing product to structural steel on buildings and other applications where it is needed.Work is usually performed indoors.Job is a very messy process.
Requirements
Interested in becoming a plaster or a cement mason? Great news! We will be accepting cement mason apprentice applications on the first Monday of each month. Plasterer apprentice applications will be accepted from the last week of July to the end of the first week of August.
