Currently Local 21 is more than 600 members strong with jurisdiction in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.Members of Local 21 take great pride in their work and strive to be the best.Our Department of Labor registered Apprenticeship program is set up in a favorable "Block Schedule" style format. Each apprentice is required to come to class for one week a month over the course of 4 different months. A minimum of 816 classroom instruction hours and 6000 work experience hours are required to graduate from the 4-year program. The starting hourly wage for an apprentice is 65% of the current Journeyman wage rate. Wages increase progressively as your abilities increase. All apprentices receive the same health and retirement benefits as a Journeyman. Once an individual graduates from the program, they are considered a Journeyman Ironworker and will be paid full Journeyman wages which are currently $32.35/hr. Local 21 prides itself on turning out the most skilled and hardest working Ironworkers in the area.
